Luge

"Luge is an Olympic sport that is practiced on natural and artificial ice tracks. One of the most challenging tracks in the world is in Altenberg.

There are competitions in five disciplines: women's and men's singles, women's and men's doubles and the team relay.

The goal is to get away from the start as quickly as possible. To do this, you make a strong trigger pull and then paddle strokes. You hit the ice with your hands. To help you wear gloves with nails that dig into the ice. With a good lane and a flat body position you try to reach the finish in the fastest time.

In the winter we mainly do track and strength training. In the summer you also go tobogganing, only on concrete and with wheels on the sleigh. But we spend most of our time in the hall, where we do a variety of agility, gymnastics and strength exercises."
